Is the Wiz, RIP on Wedsenday, June 17, 2009. He came back from a weekend trip doing Master Blaster on a weekend trip, I had a dream 2 weeks before, and pleaded with him not to attend due to health as he was a Hemodialysis patient for 14 years, and my friend who I truly hold dear to my heart. He did one treatment on Monday, and never fully recovered where he had a major heart attack.
We did all kinds of actitivties together like going for coffee after our treatments, music festivals, and even he come to my house often to hang out where I cook dinner for him. All of his friends here in Florida will truly miss him much. His ashes are coming up this week by a friend form GA to New York subway where his art is displayed. IS THE WIZ in my Heart forever. RIP Michael Martin
IN MEMORY OF MY UNCLE MIKE!
THROUGH THE YEARS SINCE I’VE BEEN A LITTLE GIRL I ALWAYS LOOKED UP TO HIM. I WANTED TO DO GRAFFITI, JUST LIKE HIM. I CALLED MYSELF “THE WIZ KID”
MY UNCLE WAS A LEGEND, HE WAS THE MAN, HE WAS IZ THE WIZ, HE WAS THE MASTER BLASTER; HE WAS MY UNCLE MIKE. HE EVEN GOT TO THE POINT IN HIS LIFE THAT HE COULDN’T PASS UP A CLEAN TRAIN OR A WALL. THAT WHAT KEPT HIM GOING ALL THESE YEARS. GRAFFITI WAS HIS LIFE!!
THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM WAS AT TUFF CITY IN THE BRONX ON JUNE 12, 2009. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME I WENT TO HIS ART SHOW IN NEW YORK. AND I SAT BACK AND WATCHED HIM DOING WHAT HE LOVED TO DO BEST. A LOT OF FANS AND OLD FRIENDS CAME TO SEE HIM, THAT MADE HIM VERY HAPPY. EVEN THOUGH IT TOOK A LOT OUT OF HIM. HE DID WHAT HE LOVED TO DO.
I WENT BACK ON SATURDAY 13, 2009 TO SEE HIM PAINT ON A TRAIN. IT WAS RAINING, I DIDN’T THINK HE WAS GOING TO DO IT BECAUSE HE WAS SICK, BUT HE DID. HE SAID WHEN IT WAS RAINING IT WAS THE BEST TIME TO DO TRAINS, AND HE DID IT!!! THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM!!
THEN I GOT THE CALL FROM MY UNCLE PETER IN FLORIDA; WITH THE SAD NEWS. HOWEVER, HE TOLD ME HE WAS SO OVERWHELMED FROM HIS VISIT TO NEW YORK, TO SEE ALL HIS FRIENDS AND MY MOM AND ME. I KNOW HE PASSED AWAY IN PEACE AND HAPPY TO KNOW HE WAS LOVED AND RESPECTED BY ALL.
THANKS.
MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU
